SupJustin.com: I'm addicted to you.

By you I mean the show 24. I’ve watched it since the beginning, but due to my busy schedule I haven’t been able to keep up with the new season. I’ve got some free time to kill tonight so I’m busy catching up on what I’ve missed. Thanks Hulu for making this possible.

At times I am finding myself tired of constantly being connected. I can’t remember a day when a cell phone was just a phone to me and the only purpose it served was making calls. I’m caught up in technology… But aren’t we all?

SupJustin.com: Hey Monday Interview

Hot Topic “Hello My Name Is…” Acoustic Tour
1/23/09 Serramonte Center, Daley City, CA

For the record, please state your name and role in the band.
Cassadee: I sing.
Mike: I play the guitar.

How’s the Hot Topic tour been going so far?
C: It’s been awesome. It’s way different then touring with a full band. It’s a lot more chill and intimate, you know playing in front of about 30 kids acoustically. Then they bring in everybody in a very organized fashion to sign stuff. We just get to hangout and it’s fun.

Would you say you prefer playing an intimate show like this or something bigger like what you’re about to do on the Believers Never Die Tour?
M: It’s kind of equal. They both have different elements.
C: It’s very equal. Even when we do full band shows and they’re small venues, sometimes that’s a lot more fun then playing in front of kids who aren’t really around at all. It just depends on the circumstances.

How do you feel your debut album, Hold on Tight, has been received among people?
C: A lot better than we all thought. We’re selling a good amount a week. We stepped in to it not really knowing how kids were going to take it. It’s a pop record with a girl singer and we didn’t know if kids were going to take to it as well as they have.

On that note, how do you feel about being compared to bands like No Doubt and Paramore?
M: We hate it (laughs). Kidding.
C: If anybody to be compared to, if it’s Paramore, that’s awesome… They’re amazing. No Doubt is an honored to be compared too also. It was inevitable, we knew it was going to happen and we kind of braced ourselves for it. We know that we do our own thing and that we’re different than them. It doesn’t bother us at all.

Do you have any plans for another record anytime soon?
C: Not anytime soon. We want to just get this record out there and tour as much as possible. We have some new song ideas and demos we’re working on, but it’s definitely not time yet to be headed in to the studio.

How did you guys come about going on tour with Fall Out Boy?
C: Since we’re signed to Decaydance, we’re very good friends with Pete [Wentz]. He hits us up whenever we’re in L.A. and we hangout. Just one day he hit us up and was like “Hey, want to tour?”… Thank you Pete.

Have you seen Bronx [Pete’s baby] yet?
C: No. We’ve seen pictures. Bronx and Ashlee are coming to Japan with us, so we’ll see them then.

Who are your influences and who influenced you specifially when writing Hold on Tight?
M: As a band, we are all really heavly influenced by Blink-182. When we went to the studio and were writing, we were really influenced by We The Kings, Boys Like Girls, and Metro Station. I think they’re kind of like family and we worked with their producers while recording.
C: I’ve also been in to Michelle Branch. I love her musical and vocal styling. I went in there with that in my head. Even though our record sounds nothing like them, I was listening to Four Year Strong and New Found Glory a lot while recording.

Who are currently listening to right now?
C: I’m really in to Demi Lovato right now, she is amazing. I’m also really in to the new Fall Out Boy CD.
M: I listen to everything. A Day To Remember’s new CD is really good though.

Who do you think is going to “pop” this year?
M: Somebody’s hymen (laughs). It’s a new band, you should check it out. Really though… Hopefully Hey Monday.
C: There is this one boy named NeverShoutNever!. I like him and he’s coming up a little, he’s sprouting. I think a Rocket to the Moon could really pop too.

You guys know AbsolutePunk.net, right?
M: Of course.

You have a lot of “haters” on there. What’s your take on all of it?
M: It gives us something to laugh about.
C: Yeah. We’ve always liked that site. We go there to read music news. Yes, we do go on there and sometimes read what’s said about us when we probably shouldn’t. It really doesn’t bother us because it’s a huge site… It’s usually the same ten people that post over and over again so it looks like a lot, but it’s not.
M: Something about it… sometimes you read it and you’re like “Oh man, that was like… Wow.” Other times, if it’s quicker and wittier than me, it’s like touche… You got me. A lot of times it’s just kids that are bitter and say the same things over and over again… like “Oh my god, Paramore 2.0.”
C: Or fail.
Yeah, nice fail stamps by the way.
C: You like that? I knew something was going to happen, but I didn’t give a fuck.
M: We’re really light hearted kids, we talk shit and joke ourselves. It’s all apart of playing the big game that you got to play.
C: The thing is, it’s not like we’re different species. We went to high school and know how it is.
M: A lot of those kids are probably who we went to high school with (laughs).

Where do you see your music going?
M: We want as many people as possible to hear it. One thing that’s happened a lot on this tour is kids come up and say “You’re music changed my life” or “It helped me through this…” To have that kind of stuff, have someone say something like that about what you’ve written is the craziest feeling ever.

Anything else you’d like to say?
C: We are stoked about everything. Thanks for everyone supporting us. Thanks for interviewing us, shows that you guys are interested. We’re going to keep doing our thing and revisit soon.
M: Thank you.

* For the record, my friend Mike Okubo assisted with conducting the interview.

If you never blink, you never feel your eyes.

I tend to stay away from gossip sites/forums/etc. but it has been brought to my attention that I am quite the talked about fella on a few selected places. The only thing that I have to say is that some things stated about me are false while others are true and some things make me "LOL." I've never really revealed much of myself to the world, maybe that's the reason behind all this fluster. Savor the moment, don't ruin it, or you might miss out.
